Blog # 7 - Proposal of UX for Revised Ultimate Computer Lab

Mission Possible

A new proposed design for the ultimate computer lab for engineering administration, teachers, and students is submitted here for your study and investigation. An elaborate write-up of this proposal has been submitted to the engineering department. Here is an image of the new AR/MR/VR/XR multiverse lab.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, and you will take it, is to establish a User Design, UX, Design Department within the engineering offices to oversee the best design and construction of the revised ultimate computer lab for engineering personnel and students. This message will not self-destruct; you will carry this proposed UX design forward to completion.

Making a computer room may seem easy. Buy the equipment, install it, set up a computer with the necessary software & apps, and that's it...right?...wrong! Did you take the time to really study the purpose behind your lab, and did you consider how people will have an increased experience using it? That is where User Experience, UX, comes in. It is the responsibility of a designer and design team to ensure that the people who use it have an outstanding experience after they finish their work.

UX is not UI. UI is the User Interface, while UX is what is designed inside the UI.

So, what is UX Design Thinking?
It is a nonlinear, iterative process that UX teams use to understand users.
It is a 5 step process

UX is not based on AI.
Instead, it is based the its 3-H's

cAmerican Inst. of Graphic Arts, CC

UX is "a process, the Head, Heart, and Hand, 3 Hs, is a framework which outlines the different roles that designers must perform to create great results" (IxDF, 2024)

Good luck with your mission to create the UX Design Department.
Remember the Latin saying as you travel
Carpe Diem
