Here is a question for you...
What is the relationship between psychedelics and VR...?
That's an interesting question...right?
For this Blog # 6, you will investigate and learn that on your very 1st first assignment.
So, let's not waste time. Let's get started with your UX course.
This is your course, Heuristics Evaluation.
Objective: To learn User EXperience, UX so that the new Meta-Verse Engineering Computer Lab
can be efficiently designed with the user in mind.
Contents of course.
Your course is designed using Canvas LMS. Here is the opening module.
Very simple, you just go step-be-stgep thru the module.
Contained here is your syllabus. Very important
Followed by the references used in this course
NOTE: All refs used in the course are also cited at the end of this discussion.
Then, a tiny assignment for your quiz work to introduce yourself
Followed by a quick quiz on how quizzes work on the site.
Moving on to the core of the first UX Learning Module
This is the first significant module for your course.
There are 2 assignments. Let's briefly describe them
Assignment #1 is for you to obtain two books, one on UX and the other by Dr. Leary
Start reading these two books during your 1st week of studies
For this, you will
When complete, do ADiscussion #1 based on what you learned from those books
Assignment #2 is similar, except it is based on the original journal article on UX Heuristics
here, you must do a particular assignment in Appendix 1 &2...
Molich & Nielson (1990). The original article on heuristics and design
Read, think about it, extract meaningful information asked for, and then do Discussion #2
The following modules are very similar.
More journals to read and write discussions about.
You will be doing a heuristic evaluation of user interfaces (Nielson & Molich, 1990)
Then, when those are completed, you will start moving on to establishing your own heuristics
You will see that various author describe their own set of heuristics
but now you must synthesize these for your own use.
All of these modules will be easily accessible on your computer.
No special apps
Simple sign-in ID & PW
Because it's online, you can work on it whenever you choose
Suggestion. Make hard copies of the journal you will read.
Research shows that reading hard copies increases student's learning
Do the same for other items you will read and study.
Always write your discussion posts on MS Word first, then edit, use Grammarly, then post
After establishing your particular heuristics, you will be in a position to start designing the new Meta-Verse computer lab. This is clearly your goal.
Items you will need to consider for your new engineering lab are
Handheld or Wearable

Spatial Arrangement

I hope you have found this blog an excellent overview of the UX class you will take.
There is much to learn in the fields of UX/VR/MR/AR/XR
The field is expanding rapidly, so you must be grounded in your studies and understanding.
Study hard
Remember well
and
Always try to get ahead of the XR World
Carpe Diem
